Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in accounting has been extensively researched in pursuit of new ways of providing accounts and accountability of organizations with the notions that they have social contracts with society. However, the public sector organisations and local governments in particulars, CSR may be viewed as having a stronger and more direct social contract with the community. The Malaysian government effort in promoting CSR can been seen through the introduction of National Integrity Plan, Islamic Civilization (Islam Hadari) and latest 9th Malaysian plans. As such the government agencies should support the government programmes and inspiration. This pilot case study has been conducted to 7 local government councilors and local residence in Selangor, on the importance of CSR concepts to local government. The results show that both parties agreed on the importance of CSR to local government administration. Furthermore, they also suggested that local governments’ councillors and administrators should be educate in CSR , so as to increase their knowledge, and also to support government are accountable to all CSR activities, since the concept of accountability is also part of CSR objective.
